Group supports name change for White Flint Metro station

At a meeting on Wednesday, a group agreed that the name of the White Flint Metro station should change to something that included North Bethesda, according to Friends of White Flint Executive Director Amy Ginsburg. 

If the county decides it wants to change the station name, it must then make a request to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. [Montgomery Community Media]

Montgomery County’s GreenFest begins

Montgomery County’s annual GreenFest celebration of the environment, which started Thursday, is a month of free online and in-person events, including educational workshops, and family-friendly games and scavenger hunts.

GreenFest also will join the DC Environmental Film Festival to offer free online documentary screenings. [Montgomery County]

State Senate OKs police reform bill, but differences remain in House

Following two late nights of emotional debate, Maryland’s state senators on Thursday approved a sweeping police reform bill that revamps the disciplinary process for problem police officers.

The bill removes the Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights, a 1970s law that affords protections for police officers accused of wrongdoing or crimes on the job. [Baltimore Sun]
