Gaithersburg man won $60K at casino, then was shot and robbed
Prince George’s County police say two gunmen snuck a rifle into MGM National Harbor, burst into a hotel room, and shot a Gaithersburg man twice in a hallway before walking away.

Garland introduced by fellow county resident Van Hollen at nomination hearing
U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Kensington introduced Judge Merrick Garland of Bethesda to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee as proceedings began Monday morning on Garland’s nomination to the post of U.S. attorney general.
During his five-minute introduction, Van Hollen referred to Garland as brilliant, kind and someone who “is respected by lawmakers, scholars and lawyers of every legal persuasion and political philosophy.” [Montgomery Community Media]
Maryland to create statewide registration portal for mass vaccination sites
Maryland officials will launch a one-stop, preregistration web portal soon for people looking to book COVID-19 immunization appointments at the state’s mass vaccination clinics.
The website would come online in March, the state’s acting health secretary, Dennis R. Schrader, told Maryland state senators at a virtual vaccine oversight meeting Monday. [Baltimore Sun]
