The F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre will close later this summer for renovations.
The theater will close July 24 and open again Sept. 6, according to a City of Rockville press release. The renovations will include a roof beam reinforcement and installation of a new motorized lighting bar.
The cost of the construction is set to not exceed $238,750 and Bob Andrews Construction Inc. will do the work, Cliff Cumber, a Rockville spokesman, said Tuesday. The theater is owned by Rockville.
Until it closes, the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre is continuing its programming with a run of The Mikado from June 9 to 18 and Monty Python’s Spamalot from July 7 to 23. Several one-night performances of dance or musical specials also are scheduled.
The first show currently scheduled after the theater’s reopening is Almost Maine, which is set to run from Sept. 22 to Oct. 1. The Victorian Lyric Opera Company will also start rehearsals and performances for a show immediately after the reopening, though the show has not yet been announced.
