County will offer free bus rides for seniors, people with disabilities

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation will enact a long-term “Ride Free Program” for seniors and people with disabilities.

The program will be implemented on all county buses including Ride On, Ride On Extra, Flex and Flash, according to a Montgomery County press release. [Montgomery Community Media]

Former Congressman Barnes takes over ethics panel

Former Maryland congressman Michael D. Barnes has taken over leadership of a bipartisan ethics panel on Capitol Hill.

Barnes served in Congress representing Maryland’s 8th District from 1979 to 1987, and lost the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in 1986. [Maryland Matters]

Feed the Fridge program available in Silver Spring

A refrigerator filled with healthy, restaurant-quality meals is now available at Mary’s Center on University Boulevard in Silver Spring.

In the past five weeks since the refrigerator was placed at Mary’s Center, 1,500 meals have been distributed. [Montgomery Community Media]
