At the City of Light Church in Silver Spring, a special wall has gone up outside on Sunday morning.

Instead of bricks, the wall is made of boxes filled with food, a sort of a literal and figurative bulwark against hunger. [NBC 4]

‘Equity hubs’ give families struggling financially a chance at pandemic pods

While most students plug in on laptops from home in Montgomery County, some are on campus at Stedwick Elementary School, working from holiday-decorated classrooms.

They are part of “equity hubs” that bring small groups of children together, so that parents who struggle financially have a safe, supervised place for their children to focus on online learning. [Washington Post]

Montgomery County joins in commitment to climate action

Montgomery County has joined counties and cities across Maryland and the United States to mark the five-year anniversary of the world coming together to sign on to the Paris Climate Agreement.

To celebrate the Dec. 12 anniversary, local governments are committing to a national mobilization by signing the “America Is All In” declaration for a clean energy economy and centering their own operations in pursuit of climate action. [Montgomery County]
