Bethesda Man charged with rape of intoxicated woman

Police arrested Jason Delano, 42, last week following an 18-month investigation into his encounter with a woman at the Bethesda Country Club, and later her apartment. The victim had been drinking at the club and when Delano and friends took her home, he escorted her into the Friendship Heights apartment and allegedly raped her. Delano was charged with second-degree rape and fourth-degree sex offense and has been released on bond. [WJLA]

Knife-wielding man tased in Bethesda intersection

Police responded to Rockville Pike and Grosvenor Lane for reports of a man waving a knife at passing vehicles. He was taken into custody and found to have a history of mental illnesses. [Local DVM]

State raises smoking age to 21, legalizes marijuana edibles

Gov. Larry Hogan sign multiple bills into law on Monday, including legislation to up the smoking age and also close a loophole involving vape pens. Maryland’s medical-marijuana industry will expand by allowing dispensaries to sell edibles and brownies. [Washington Post]
