Democrats publish opposition memo

The Democratic Governors Association released a 1,418-page opposition research report on Republican Gov. Larry Hogan on a website,, last week. By placing the opposition research in the public domain, independent expenditure groups and Democratic campaigns are able to use the information. [Washington Post]

New trains need fix

An internal inspection report at WMATA says wiring work must be redone on all of Metro’s new 7000 series rail cars. The report says wire crimping defects in the cars that will take one year to fix. [WJLA]

Police seeking coin thieves

Montgomery County police are searching for two people they think are responsible for thefts of laundry room coin machines in six apartment complexes in Germantown and Gaithersburg. The burglaries took place between May 28 and July 13, and the thieves used an unknown tool to steal the coins from the machines. [Montgomery County Police]

Some pain as Purple Line construction continues

Residents were warned to expect “intrusive” disruption as tunnels are bored for the Purple Line. Nearly a year after a groundbreaking that had been held up by a lawsuit, hundreds of workers are now spread across the 16-mile, $2 billion project that will connect New Carrollton, College Park, Silver Spring and Bethesda. In Silver Spring, crews have tunneled about 150 feet, a process expected to continue through spring, sometimes requiring blasting. [WTOP]

The mercury will hit the low 90s today, but sunshine and humidity will make it feel like it’s over 100 degrees out there. Evening thunderstorms are possible as the atmosphere cools down. Lows will be in the low 70s overnight.
