Agreement allows buses to switch from diesel to electric

Montgomery County has reached an agreement with AlphaStruxure for an integrated microgrid and electric bus charging infrastructure project at the Brookville Bus Depot  in Silver Spring.

The project will enable at least 44 buses in the Ride On Montgomery County transit fleet to switch from diesel to electric power. [Montgomery County]

$544M in federal aid going to Maryland colleges, universities

The American Rescue Plan is sending $543.8 million in federal aid to 47 Maryland colleges and universities, about half of which will be distributed to students as emergency cash grants.

University of Maryland, College Park is set to receive the largest amount in the state at about $58 million, followed by Towson University at $49 million and Montgomery College at $40 million. [Baltimore Sun]

26 Montgomery County students get National Merit Scholarships

Twenty-six Montgomery County seniors have earned National Merit Scholarships.

Awardees were selected from more than 16,000 students nationwide. [Montgomery Community Media]
