Gaithersburg to discuss development of Royal Farms gas station
The Gaithersburg City Council will discuss plans for a new Royal Farm gas station at a meeting on Monday.
The proposal calls for the development of a 4,649-square-foot Royal Farms and a 2,500-square-foot Starbucks near the intersection of North Frederick Avenue and Watkins Mill Road. The plan would require a zoning change for part of the property.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. in Gaithersburg City Hall at 31 S. Summit Ave.
Montgomery County Council to interview transportation director nominee
County Council members will interview the nominee for director of the Montgomery County Department of Transportation at a meeting on Tuesday.
Christopher Conklin, the current deputy director of MCDOT, was nominated for the position by County Executive Marc Elrich earlier this month. If approved, Conklin will replace current director Al Roshdieh, who plans to leave the department at the end of October.
Conklin has been with MCDOT since 2016, according to his resume. He would earn a salary of $208,000 if approve.
The council will also discuss a proposed zoning amendment that would require some developments to improve their long-term bicycle storage facilities.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. in the third-floor hearing room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville. Conklin’s interview is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
Board of Education to discuss strategic plans, capital improvements
A committee with the Montgomery County Board of Education will meet Wednesday to discuss strategic planning and capital improvements for the school system.
Members will consider school improvements under an equity accountability model, which aims to focus on individual school metrics and allocate resources to at-need schools.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in room 114 of the Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville.
