Flower Child has opened its first Maryland location, easily spotted in the Travilah Square Shopping Center in Rockville by its rows of fresh foliage surrounding its entrance.
The restaurant features farm-fresh ingredients used in dishes that are all made from scratch, and paired with flavored lemonades, kombucha or organic wine and beer. The primarily West Coast chain will soon add locations in Bethesda’s Wildwood Shopping Center and Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Store Reporter first reported the Maryland location openings.
“We have been expanding the Flower Child brand to the East Coast and Bethesda is a great fit for our happy and healthy vibes,” Fox Restaurant Concepts Director of Marketing Tracy McGinnis said in an email. “We are excited to be a part of the local community and to serve our new neighbors.”
McGinnis said the timeframe for the opening of the Bethesda location has yet to be determined, but mid-2019 is a possibility.
Patrons at Flower Child at 10072 Darnestown Road are greeted by an open seating area and fresh lemonade dispensers near the front door. The menu includes vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and organic options, though carnivores can add protein to each item by choosing grass-fed steak, all-natural chicken and sustainable salmon. The flexible meal options can be combined or substituted to suit the needs of customers, true to the fast-casual genre, according to restaurant officials.
“We’ve developed an easy to customize menu devoted to veggies, grains, fruits and healthy proteins,” McGinnis said. “Our bowls, wraps, grains, and greens are all made from scratch daily with fresh ingredients that revitalize your body, mind, and soul. Whether you plan to pick up and peace out, or you’re seeking out the happy vibes found in our restaurant, you’ll be greeted with fast service and a warm smile.”
Flower Child joins other eateries at the Rockville shopping center, including Ledo Pizza, Café Rio and Pholuscious. The restaurant is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
