Charlie Sepulveda & The Turnaround—Friday Night—AMP by Strathmore, North Bethesda
Award-winning Latin jazz trumpeter Charlie Sepulveda and his band will perform Friday night at AMP. The performance begins at 8 p.m.; tickets range from $32 to $42.

Friday Night Live—Rockville Town Square
The Players Band will be performing ska music  from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. This concert is a part of the Friday Night Live free summer concert series that continues through Sept. 28.

RIO Summer Concert Series—Friday and Saturday night—RIO Washingtonian Center, Gaithersburg
RIO’s free summer concert series continues this weekend, with a Billy Vaughan performance Friday night and a Guys in Thin Ties performance Saturday night. Both concerts are from 6 to 9 p.m. on the RIO patio near Union Jack’s.

Maryland Lyric Opera—Friday and Saturday night—The Music Center at Strathmore, North Bethesda
The first September performance in the music center is Giacomo Puccini’s “La Fanciulla del West,” a “romantic Western epic,” according to the concert website. The Friday and Saturday night performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $35.

Latin American Film Festival—Friday, Saturday and Sunday—AFI, Silver Spring
The 29th annual AFI Latin American Film Festival began Thursday and will feature 45 films through Oct. 3. This weekends’ screenings begin with Theater of War at 5:15 p.m. Friday, and end with Ukamau y Ké at 9:45 p.m. Sunday. Pollo Campero is offering complimentary snacks to festival goers from 6 to 7 p.m. on Fridays.

Poolesville Day—Saturday
The 26th annual Poolesville Day begins at 8 a.m. with a 5k race sponsored by the Poolesville Area of Commerce. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and will feature local officials and an appearance by the Washington Nationals mascots. Live music, a car show, carnival rides and other family-friendly activities will take place over the course of the day. The event will be held rain or shine.
