Bethesda native Joey Jones received a rose last night on the season premiere of ABC’s “The Bachelorette.”

The Georgetown Preparatory School alumnus, along with 21 other eligible bachelors, made it through night one without being eliminated and will appear in next week’s episode.

Jones, 33, introduced himself to bachelorette Hannah Brown, 24, with a baby carrier in hand.

“I wanted to give you a glimpse of what our future can look like together,” Jones said. “But first, let’s start this damn party!” He pulled a blanket off the carrier to reveal a bottle of champagne.

Jones is the oldest contestant on this season of “The Bachelorette.” His readiness for fatherhood is detailed in his cast biography on ABC.com. “He is excited to be married, have a house with a pool in the backyard and a couple of kids running around,” it reads.

After contestant introductions, the group mingled with the lead at a cocktail party inside the Agoura Hills, California mansion.

Two previous ‘Bachelor’ contestants (and friends of Brown) watched live footage from a surveillance van parked outside. They warned the former Miss Alabama about the contestant Scott, a software sales executive from Chicago, who allegedly has a girlfriend back home. In a dramatic confrontation, Brown sent Scott home and was comforted by the remaining contestants, including Jones.

“I’m so sorry for whatever went down before,” Jones told Brown. “And I want you to know I’m here for you and I’m super excited about this journey.”

Jones graduated Georgetown Prep in 2003 and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and information systems from Boston College in 2007, according to his LinkedIn. He is a senior manager at Capital One.

The last season of “The Bachelorette,” which starred Becca Kufrin, debuted with 5.6 million viewers. Ratings for last night’s episode are not yet available.

The next episode of “The Bachelorette” will air at 8 p.m. Monday, May 20 on ABC.

Other shows in the franchise include “The Bachelor,” with typically premieres in January, and “Bachelor in Paradise,” which airs during the summer.
