Two former managers at Adega Wine Cellars & Café in Silver Spring plan to open Locavino, a reimagined version of the wine bar at the same location, early next year.

Adega closed in February 2017 after 14 years 8519 Fenton St. It was one of the inaugural establishments during the revitalization of downtown Silver Spring in the early 2000s.

Co-owners Jarrod Jabre and Justin Wallace were longtime employees at Adega and will get a chance to explore their own opportunity.

“While we say this isn’t going to be Adega 2.0, there’s going to be a lot of holdover,” Jabre said. “We’ll be able to do things we always wanted to, but couldn’t.”

Locavino will have the capacity for more than 200 wines, with a focus on local products, Jabre said. The menu will be light to medium fare, including fresh salads, sandwiches, wraps, soups and stews.

Jabre described the food offerings as “new American fusion.”

The restaurant is expected to open in the first quarter of 2019. Jabre said he and Wallace will rely on their ample experience at Adega in making Locavino a successful venture.
