Spice Street, an Indian restaurant in downtown Silver Spring, is opening on Wednesday and will initially offer only carryout and delivery, its website states.
Spice Street owner Navjot Singh announced one year ago that he hoped to open Spice Street at the bottom of the Solaire Apartments at 8250 Georgia Ave. by the spring of this year. But the COVID-19 pandemic delayed plans, Singh told Bethesda Beat over the summer.
Singh could not immediately be reached for comment on Monday.
Spice Street will have various types of Indian cuisine, such as Tandoori chicken and shrimp, minced lamb kabobs, scallops in coconut sauce, and a crab and cauliflower entrée with mild spices. Most entrees are between $15 and $20.
The menu also includes 16 vegetarian and vegan entrees, priced at $12 or $13 each. They include Palak Paneer, cheese cubes cooked with spinach, Chana Masala, chickpea curry and Baigan Kabartha, which is cooked, mashed eggplant. The vegetarian and vegan items, as well as some others on the menu, are marked as gluten free.
Spice Street will be open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. It will be open for dinner Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 9:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m.
