South Street Steaks has been closed since mid-July 2018 after a truck damaged a wall, but a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page in July it would open as soon as repairs were completed.

Construction was halted by the county after a stop-work order was issued in December, then resumed and has largely concluded.

A leasing sign from The Greenhill Companies, based in Bethesda, recently went up on the restaurant’s now-completed facade.

A representative from the real estate group confirmed the tenant was no longer there and the property at 4856 Cordell Ave. is now available.
