Rōti closes in Pike & Rose

Rōti Modern Mediterranean, a national chain of fast-casual restaurants, has permanently closed its location in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose development.

The company issued a statement last week, saying it closed the North Bethesda location “to allow us to focus on our new brand goals and initiatives.”

The statement said Rōti plans to reopen its other Montgomery County location in Chevy Chase next month, with a new menu and a new “look and feel.” The Chevy Chase location temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

More locations are also planned for the D.C. area, the statement continued.

Sweet Sweet Kitchen, a restaurant serving food from the African nation of Sierra Leone, opened in downtown Silver Spring at 904 Bonifant St. over the weekend.

Sweet Sweet Kitchen originally operated as a food truck. It started serving at the brick-and-mortar location on Saturday, according to the restaurant’s Instagram page.

The restaurant’s owner — who gave his name as “Chef Mosada,” but declined to provide his full name — told Bethesda Beat on Monday that the restaurant serves entrees such as oxtails and red snapper fish. Prices for entrees range between $15 and $40, he said.

The owner said the hours for Sweet Sweet Kitchen are in flux due to the pandemic, but this week the restaurant will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
