Small Bites: Macdara’s Grille in Wheaton Closes Abruptly
Plus: Mission BBQ brings back Hometown Heroes fundraiser, Paisano’s Pizza closes in Silver Spring
Macdara’s Grille in Wheaton announced its permanent closure on Wednesday in identical messages on Twitter and Facebook.
The post asked patrons not to call owners, and promised additional details would follow soon.
Macdara’s had a moderately priced surf-and-turf dinner menu, happy hour beverages and a Sunday brunch selection. It offered half-priced entrees for government employees during the shutdown.
The restaurant’s phone line is still in service, but calls to it have not been returned.
Macdara’s website is plastered with the news of its closure, though the virtual “Bowwow Wall” is still in operation featuring a scrolling slideshow of canine visitors.
Hometown Heroes fundraiser returns to Mission BBQ
The barbecue chain brought back the widely successful promotion on Monday at all locations.
When customers purchase the reusable Hometown Heroes cup, Mission BBQ donates $2 to charities chosen by local police and fire departments.
Hometown Heroes cups raised more than $427,000 in 2018.
The county’s only Mission BBQ location is at 885 Rockville Pike in Rockville. The fundraiser will run through April 20.
Paisano’s Pizza closes in Silver Spring
The restaurant opened at 8213 Georgia Ave. in May 2018. It was operated by the same franchisee owner who manages the Rockville location.
Local blog Source of the Spring posted a photo of an eviction notice at the Silver Spring restaurant last week.
Paisano’s has nearly 40 locations across Maryland, Virginia, Florida and the District. Montgomery County had four chains prior to the closing. The Silver Spring location is not listed on the company’s website.
Paisano’s corporate office did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
Delina’s offers lunch special
Customers at Delina Eritrean Urban Kitchen in Bethesda can now choose any three menu items for $9.95.
Delina’s offers a tapas-style menu, featuring smaller portions with every item under $5. The restaurant has a variety of vegan and gluten-free items and customers are encouraged to try several courses instead of one main dish.
Delina’s opened in August 2018 in the former Heckman’s Deli location at 4914 Cordell Ave.
