Bethesda chef to appear on Food Network Saturday

Ashish Alfred, the owner and chef of Bethesda restaurants Duck Duck Goose and George’s Chophouse, appeared on The Food Network show “The Kitchen” Saturday.

Alfred cooked glazed beets with crème fraiche and pistachios.

This year, Alfred was named Maryland’s 2019 Chef of the Year by the Restaurant Association of Maryland, a trade organization of 2,000 members.

Alfred grew up in Montgomery County and trained at the French Culinary Institute in New York City. In February, he discussed his struggle with drug and alcohol addiction in a Washington Post profile.
