Rockville Town Square’s Mellow Mushroom Has Closed

Mellow Mushroom, a casual pizza chain with a retro motif, has closed its 5,800-square-foot restaurant in Rockville Town Center after opening its doors in May 2016.

The manager of the restaurant, who would not provide his name, said Wednesday the location at 33 Maryland Ave. closed last week. He would not say why it closed.

Mellow Mushroom was founded in 1974 by Georgia Tech college students, according to the company’s corporate website. The chain has more than 150 locations in the U.S.
