The full-service gluten-free restaurant Little Beet Table is now open in Chevy Chase’s Friendship Heights neighborhood. The restaurant opened Tuesday, General Manager Aric Sandoval said in an interview Friday.
Little Beet Table started in 2014 in New York City as one of the city’s first entirely gluten-free restaurant. It has expanded to four restaurants in other cities.
The Chevy Chase location is the newest. The other restaurants are in Chicago and Greenwich, Conn.
Aric Sandoval, the general manager of the Chevy Chase restaurant, said business has been steady in the first week. He said that about two-thirds of the business has come from walk-ins.
“The feedback has been fantastic so far,” he said.
The dining room features a combination of wooden tables and padded booths, and there is a bar. The restaurant can seat 100, Sandoval said. During the warmer months, there will be an outdoor patio that can seat another 50 people.
Little Beet Table is part of the Rebranded Collection at Chevy Chase— a remodeled commercial development on Wisconsin Avenue near the Friendship Heights Metro station and a couple of blocks from the D.C. border.
Asked what sets Little Beet Table apart from other restaurants, Sandoval said it’s the “wellness aspects” since the menu is gluten-free.
“We wanted to be the first on this part of Wisconsin Avenue to reestablish a dining scene over here,” he said.
Menu items include chicken, salmon, Korean rice cakes, a mushroom-and-black-bean burger and a whole branzino fish. There are also appetizers and shareable items. Most appetizers are $10 to $20, while entrees range from $20 to $40.
The restaurant is open for dinner service starting at 5 p.m., but Sandoval said it will begin offering lunch starting Monday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additionally, the restaurant will soon offer reduced prices for shareable items during happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m., he said.
Little Beet Table also has a fast-casual version of the restaurant, Little Beet, which has two eateries in Northern Virginia.
