Dolci Gelati, a chain of gelato establishments in the greater Washington region, will open a location inside the deli Booeymonger at 5252 Wisconsin Ave. on the D.C. side of Friendship Heights this month, according to a spokesperson.
Dolci Gelati started was started in 2006 by pastry chef Gianluigi Dellaccio, a native of Naples, Italy, according to the company’s website. The gelato is made from handpicked fruits, chocolate imported from Ecuador and other ingredients from local dairy farms.
The business lists more than 80 flavors of gelato on its website, including some unorthodox ones such as bacon, bubble gum, chocolate jalapeno and olive oil. There are also more traditional flavors such as vanilla bean and strawberry.
Dolci Gelati is scheduled to have a grand opening in Friendship Heights on March 26, according to a company spokeswoman.
Dolci Gelati’s other retail locations are in Takoma Park, the Shaw neighborhood of D.C. and Alexandria, Va. The gelato is also available at Nationals Park, the National Zoo and in select stores such as Whole Foods and the Bethesda Italian deli Vace.
