Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana is projecting an opening this winter in Bethesda’s Westfield Montgomery mall, according to a company representative.

Frank Pepe, a Connecticut-based chain known for its White Clam Pizza, announced in December 2019 that it was coming to Bethesda.

The restaurant was supposed to open last year, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed construction.

The restaurant is now slated to open this winter, either in late 2021 or early 2022, according to an administrative assistant at the company’s headquarters who identified herself as Karen, but declined to give her last name.

Frank Pepe has applied for a liquor license in Montgomery County, and its application is scheduled to be heard at the liquor board’s Sept. 2 meeting, according to Alcohol Beverage Services Licensure Manager Jocelyn Rawat.

Robert Dyer previously reported on Frank Pepe’s liquor license application.
