County planning officials will decide this week whether to grant the developer of the Apex Building site permission to construct the tallest building in Bethesda.
Carr Properties is looking to build a nearly 300-foot-tall mixed-use complex at 7272 Wisconsin Ave. The Montgomery County Planning Board earlier this month approved a preliminary plan allowing the building to encompass up to 937,184 square feet and include 480 homes.
The board was set to consider the building height issue at its earlier meeting, but ended up postponing the discussion until Thursday. The Apex plans are at the end of the agenda for the all-day meeting at the board’s Silver Spring headquarters.
The site of the existing Apex Building has also been pegged to accommodate an underground light-rail station for the Purple Line and an entrance to the Bethesda Metro Station.
