County’s COVID-19 cases increase by 99 overnight

State reports one additional confirmed death from virus in Montgomery

The number of COVID-19 cases increased by 99 in Montgomery County — or 0.4% — overnight, bringing the county’s total to 23,293.

The Maryland Department of Health on Thursday morning reported one additional confirmed death from the virus in the county. The county’s death toll is now at 812.

There have been 40 “probable” deaths. “Probable” deaths have the coronavirus listed as the cause of death on certificates but have not been confirmed by laboratory tests.

Across the state, the number of cases increased by 761 — or 0.6% — since Wednesday morning. The state has now had 129,425 cases of COVID-19.

There have been 3,835 confirmed deaths from the virus in the state.
