Montgomery County is offering walk-up, no appointment COVID-19 vaccines at its mass vaccination site in Germantown until 2 p.m. today.

The county posted on Twitter Monday morning that it would offer the vaccines at the Montgomery College campus with no appointment, starting at 10 a.m.

Mary Anderson, a spokeswoman for the county’s health department, said in a phone interview Monday morning that for now, the walk-up appointments are a one-time event.

She said more opportunities for a walk-up vaccine could be added in the future depending on how much the clinics fill with appointments.

“Vaccine is becoming a bit more plentiful. We want to make it as available as possible to people and [try] to continue to dig into the various age groups,” she said.

Gov. Larry Hogan announced last week that the state’s mass vaccination sites would switch to open appointment systems. That started on Saturday. Switching to open appointments means residents can sign up for appointments online without preregistration.

Residents can sign up for an appointment at the mass vaccination site here.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will offer open appointments at the Silver Spring Civic Center vaccine clinic Tuesday through Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Information about signing up for the appointments will be listed at govaxmoco.com.
