Tuesday brought two fast-casual openings to North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose development.

One was the reopening of popular sandwich chain Taylor Gourmet, The other was the opening of the first brick-and-mortar location for the former farmer’s market vendor Sunday Morning Bakehouse.

Taylor Gourmet reopened Tuesday at 926 Rose Ave., one year after the company filed for bankruptcy and closed all 17 locations in the Washington, D.C., region, including two in Bethesda and one in Silver Spring.

“The reopening of this location further solidifies the neighborhood as a dining destination to the North Bethesda community and the greater Montgomery County region,” wrote Stuart Biel, the senior vice president of leasing for Federal Realty Investment Trust.

Steve Kalifa of Source Cuisine bought Taylor Gourmet in March, as reported by Washingtonian. Although the Pike & Rose location has reopened, the Bethesda Row and Silver Spring shops were replaced with other establishments.

Taylor Gourmet serves a variety of meat and vegetarian subs, priced between $8 and $13 depending on the size. Salads are also available for $8 to $11, depending on whether chicken is added.

Taylor Gourmet is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesday was also the first day for Sunday Morning Bakehouse, which Montgomery County native Caroline Yi started as a vendor at the Pike Central Farm Market in Pike & Rose.

The café, at 11869 Grand Park Ave., sells baked goods such as croissants, doughnuts, pastries and breads. Sandwiches and breakfast foods are also available.

“It’s a dream come true to serve the community I grew up in by doing what I love,” Yi wrote in a press release.

Sunday Morning Bakehouse is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
