It rained like cats and dogs last Thursday, forcing the postponement of the planned “yappy hour” for dogs and their owners in Bethesda. But dogs will have a chance to play and owners to mingle (and drink) in the re-scheduled event this evening in Elm Street Urban Park.

Thursday’s event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be areas for “well-socialized” small and large dogs, according to the parks department’s website. The yappy hour is being put on by Montgomery Parks and the Bethesda Urban Partnership.

There will be live music along with food, beer and wine from local restaurants.

There’s virtually no chance of rain this evening, but it will be hot: The temperature is expected to be about 90 degrees at the start of the event.
