Sometime between Sept. 7 and 8, a vandal keyed at least eight cars parked on a street in the Woodside Park neighborhood in downtown Silver Spring, according to Montgomery County police.
“They were very deep scratches,” Sgt. Rebecca Innocenti, a police spokesperson, said Thursday. “They are all described to be front to back, the whole length of the vehicle, from front wheel well to rear wheel well—passenger and driver sides.”
Innocenti said the vandalism took place from the 1400 block to the 1700 block on Highland Drive.
“It’s difficult to nail down a timeframe,” Innocenti said. “Some people did not notice until later.”
The police are investigating the crime, but an officer has not yet been assigned to the case, Innocenti said.
According to posts on a neighborhood list, several cars were also keyed in the Woodside neighborhood across Georgia Avenue.
Innocenti could not confirm whether those incidents had been reported to police.
