Montgomery Soccer Inc.
Since 1971, thousands of Bethesda-area parents have spent weekends traveling to local fields to watch their children learn how to play soccer, thanks to the nonprofit Montgomery Soccer Inc.
MSI’s popular Recreational Program, which is open to players of all skills levels in grades one through 12, is coached by parent volunteers and emphasizes skill development and having fun over winning. Once players gain experience, the MSI Classic Program offers a more competitive league. Registration fees per season for the Recreational Program are $71 for kindergartners; $84 for kids in grades one through 12.
Chevy Chase parent Amy Egan has three children—in second, sixth and seventh grades—on MSI teams. She likes how MSI matches the progression of field size and game format to players’ skills. That gives players “more touches on the ball and matches their development level,” Egan says. “It makes it more fun.”
