Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center provides legal assistance to low-income Asian and Pacific Islander immigrants.

APALRC’s services include one-on-one counseling, advocacy and a Multilingual Legal Helpline staffed by bilingual law students and lawyers who provide low-income residents with access to legal assistance and referrals. In 2010, APALRC provided legal counsel to 104 county residents.

What a donation buys:
• $250 covers the cost of language interpreters for four client meetings with domestic violence survivors.
• $1,000 covers the stipend of a part-time bilingual legal assistance intern for four months.
• $10,000 supports an outreach paralegal to help conduct “know your rights” workshops on violence prevention and workers’, tenants’ and immigrant rights.

Volunteer opportunities:
• One day: Volunteer at a community legal education workshop or legal clinic.
• Weekly: Trained volunteers may provide intake help on the legal helpline, disseminate information to crime victims and/or develop outreach materials.
