Beyoncé versus Jay Z headphone party—Friday night—The Fillmore, Silver Spring
The Fillmore is hosting a silent headphones party, in which everyone receives a pair of wireless headphones when they walk in and can choose between three DJs to listen to. The headphones display LED lights in a specific color to show other dancers what you’re listening to. The night’s theme is the music of power couple Beyoncé and Jay Z.
Tickets are $10 to $20. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
?Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra—Friday night—The Music Center at Strathmore, North Bethesda
The Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra will perform its annual Spring Gala for its 27th year. The performance will include the group’s symphony orchestra, concert band and flute choir.
Tickets are $20 to $25 for the 7 p.m. show.
Secret Society—Friday night—AMP by Strathmore, Silver Spring
The seven-piece band Secret Society will play AMP. The group is led by saxophonist Bryan Mills, and its music is a mix of R&B, hip-hop and neo-soul.
Tickets are $25 to $35 for the 8 p.m. show.
Gaithersburg Book Festival—Saturday—Gaithersburg City Hall
This year’s Gaithersburg Book Festival features more than 100 authors who will participate in panel discussions, book signings and readings. There will also be writing workshops, literary exhibits, live entertainment and book sales.
The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Vivian Green—Sunday—Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club
Singer-songwriter and pianist Vivian Green is coming to Bethesda Blues & Jazz for a performance of her R&B music. The Philadelphia-born artist has released six albums since 2002.
Tickets are $49.50 to $59 for the 8 p.m. show.
