The managers of Edgemont at Bethesda Metro Apartments are looking to build more multifamily housing right next door.
Equity Residential, the company that owns and operates Edgemont, is about to file plans for expanding by 175 units onto the lot adjoining the existing apartment complex on Edgemoor Lane in downtown Bethesda. A public notice posted in front of the site offers limited information about the proposal, but the developer is presenting more details during a June 14 community meeting at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Service Center at 4805 Edgemoor Lane. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The developers want to build on two lots that add up to 1.38 acres, according to the sign. The 4885 Edgemoor Lane property, where there’s now a two-story brick home, is zoned for buildings of up to 150 feet. Heights are limited to 90 feet at 4903 Edgemoor Lane, the site of the existing apartment complex. Rents start at $1,974 for one-bedroom units at Edgemont and $2,782 for two-bedroom units, according to Equity’s website.
A Bethesda blogger first reported on the public meeting about the development plans.
