The latest &pizza outpost is set to officially open Friday at Pike & Rose in North Bethesda.
The new restaurant will be the Washington, D.C.-based chain’s 13th location and marks the latest in a string of openings by the business. The North Bethesda restaurant is &pizza’s fourth in Montgomery County; the others are in Germantown, Gaithersburg and Bethesda.
The North Bethesda restaurant will host a sneak peek June 10 and 11 to locals who RSVP on the restaurant’s website.
The company started in D.C. in 2012 as the brainchild of founders Steve Salis and Michael Lastoria, who wanted to shake up the traditional pizza industry with a fast-casual, Chipotle-like concept. Three years later, the two founders had grown the company into a successful chainlet, which in February received a $10 million investment to help fund future growth.
Salis, who had served as CEO since the company’s founding, left that role recently and said he’s no longer involved in day-to-day operations. A company spokeswoman said Lastoria now serves as the CEO.
The Pike & Rose restaurant is at 11626 Old Georgetown Road.
