Architect shows off latest renderings of new Fish Taco location

Rockville architect Steven Karr posted new renderings on his website of the planned Fish Taco location at Wildwood Shopping Center in Bethesda. The 2,200-square-foot space will include exposed brick and tall wood-paneled booths, according to the renderings. The restaurant is expected to be completed in December.

Karr also notes on his website that he’s working on another Fish Taco location at 7200 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda. That’s The JBG Cos.’ Artery Plaza building where renovations are currently underway to make the ground floor more amenable to restaurant tenants. Karr’s website says the Fish Taco there will be about 2,800 square feet and seat 113 people.

The restaurants will be the first offshoots for Fish Taco, which got its start in Cabin John in 2013 and is owned by the same company that operates Food Wine & Co., City Burger and Don Pollo.

Last week, we reported here that Not Your Average Joe’s was possibly heading to a revamped Ellsworth Place in Silver Spring. Now it’s official. The New England-based chain restaurant announced Wednesday it has signed a lease for a 6,500-square-foot space at the shopping center formerly known as City Place. The eatery is expected to open in early 2016. The restaurant will be the chain’s third in the county. There’s one in Gaithersburg and a Bethesda location opened earlier this month on Old Georgetown Road.

Ellsworth Place is currently in the midst of a $75 million facelift, which developer Petrie Richardson Ventures hopes to complete in November.

Restaurant delivery service DoorDash expands into Bethesda

The latest app designed to allow customers to order directly from local restaurants and have the food delivered to their doors has launched in Bethesda. DoorDash has over 100 local restaurants to choose from and most are those that don’t typically do delivery such as Redwood, Rock Bottom and even fast-food restaurants like McDonald’s and Panera.   The app charges a $6 fee per delivery and delivers in about 40 minutes, according to a company statement.
