The Safeway grocery store at the JBG Companies’ new Galvan apartment building plans to open Dec. 9 near the Twinbrook Metro.
Safeway announced Friday that it’s planning to hire approximately 150 employees before the store opens.
The apartment building is expected to open before the end of the year. It includes 356 one- and two-bedroom apartments, as well as 100,000 square feet of ground floor retail space.
On Friday construction workers buzzed around the building, installing shelves in the Safeway space, working on the apartments and planting landscaping features along Rockville Pike. The building is at 1800 Rockville Pike in Rockville.
Other retailers announced for the building include the pizza restaurant Pie 360, Floyd’s 99 Barbershop, Dunkin’ Donuts, Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop and Ethan Allen Design Center.
