Large American Restaurant Prepares for September Opening in Rockville
Stanford Grill will seat just over 300 diners at its Tower Oaks Boulevard location
Stanford Grill, a popular American restaurant in Columbia, plans to open its second location in Rockville next month.
The Blueridge Restaurant Group, which owns the restaurants, provided details Tuesday about the new sister restaurant, which will be similar to the original. The approximately 300-seat restaurant will offer a menu with signature dishes such as wood-fired rotisserie chicken and Danish barbecue pork ribs.
The large restaurant also features two patios with 100 seats, a 24-seat private dining room and a lounge where piano performances are planned.
Executive chef Sean Kinoshita, who is joining the restaurant after a stint at Tao Asian Bistro in Las Vegas, will bring a few Japanese dishes to the menu as well as sushi. The restaurant also announced the hiring of head baker Christian Haug, formerly of Bethesda’s Praline Bakery and Bistro, who will be making sweet breads, sandwich buns and pastries for the restaurant.
Blueridge Restaurant Group is familiar with the county. The owners also operate Copper Canyon Grill restaurants in Gaithersburg and downtown Silver Spring.
The new Stanford Grill at 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard will likely compete with the often-busy Clyde’s Tower Oaks Lodge, which is less than a half mile away in what’s mostly an office park area off of Wootton Parkway near I-270.
