A 51-year-old driver was killed Friday night in a two-vehicle collision in Poolesville, Montgomery County police said Friday evening in a statement.

Just after 6 p.m. county police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews responded to Whites Ferry Road near the intersection of Partnership Road for the report of a collision, the statement said. The collision involved a white Ford and a green Acura.

The driver of the green Acura was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in the statement. The man who drove the white Ford had no reported injuries and remained at the scene.

Police will release the identity of the man who was killed following the proper notification of the next of kin, the statement said.

Shortly after the crash, MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer wrote on social media the driver of one of the vehicles was trapped. He did not specify which vehicle.

By about 6:40 p.m. the entrapped driver had been extricated from the vehicle and was being evaluated and treated by MCFRS paramedics, Piringer wrote. The driver suffered life-threatening injuries from the crash.

Following the crash, all lanes of Whites Ferry Road between Partnership and Sugarland roads were closed to traffic, police said in a social media post Friday.

The county police department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision and is asking anyone who may have witnessed it to call 240-773-6620.
