A 56-year-old Bethesda man died after a multi-vehicle collision in Olney Wednesday afternoon, Montgomery County police said Thursday evening in a statement. Police identified the man as Isadore Morton Gudelsky.

Officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) personnel responded Wednesday just after 2:30 p.m. to the 2600 block of Olney Sandy Spring Road for a report of a collision, according to the statement.

Gudelsky, who was driving a blue Lexus at the time, was exiting the Brookdale Olney assisted living facility at 2611 Olney Sandy Spring Road when his car was struck by a green Jeep traveling westbound, the statement said

The crash location was near MedStar Montgomery Medical Center and less than a mile from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School.

According to MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer, the collision involved four vehicles, including the green Jeep and the blue Lexus with one of the drivers trapped in their vehicle. That driver, Gudelsky, was extricated and was classified as a priority 1 trauma.

State medical emergency services protocols define priority 1 as a “critically ill or injured person requiring immediate attention; unstable patients with life-threatening injury or illness.”

Three people were transported to the hospital after the collision, according to police. Gudelsky was transported with “serious injuries” and later died at the hospital. An adult female passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Jeep, a juvenile male, was also transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The county police department’s Collision Reconstruction Unity is investigating the incident, the statement said. The unit is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call them at 240-773-6620.
