A winter weather advisory has been issued for Thursday morning for Montgomery County, ahead of blustery temperatures and forecasts of up to 1 inch of snow, according to the National Weather Service.
The service’s office for the Baltimore/Washington, D.C., area issued the winter weather advisory for the county and other parts of the D.C. area. The advisory runs from 7 to 11 a.m. Snow showers are expected before 1 p.m., with a high of 27 degrees and strong winds with gusts as high as 34 mph.
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) released a message Wednesday afternoon sharing that the district is “closely monitoring” the weather forecast and “if necessary” will provide an update on Thursday’s school day by 5 a.m.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer warned on social media that slippery road conditions due to snow and below-freezing temperatures could impact commutes Thursday morning.
The Washington Post’s weather reporting group, the Capital Weather Gang, reported on social media that the county and the D.C. area are likely to receive anywhere from a dusting up to 1 inch of snow on Thursday.
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation also warned of wintery weather, noting that its crews are monitoring pavement conditions and will “respond to weather conditions as needed.”
