Rockville family displaced by house fire

Two occupants escaped, no injuries reported, fire officials say

A fire on the second floor of a Rockville home Thursday afternoon left a family displaced, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) officials.  

According to radio transmissions, MCFRS crews responded at roughly 12:40 p.m. to reports of a house fire in the 13600 block of Valley Oak Drive. MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said on social media that crews responded to a two-story single-family house with fire in a second-floor bedroom that extended into the attic.  

According to radio transmissions, the fire was under control by roughly 2:15 p.m. 

According to Piringer, two occupants in the home escaped from the home and no injuries were reported. He wrote on social media at roughly 2:50 p.m. that one family would be displaced due to the fire.

He did not provide information about what caused the fire or a cost estimate of damages.
