The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Montgomery County beginning Wednesday at 9 p.m. and running through noon Thursday. The county is expected to see a wintery mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Forecasters are predicting it could be the first of three winter storms poised to hit the area in the next week. Restaurants closed Monday in protest of Trump policies

El Golfo Restaurant and El Viejo Central American Kitchen were two Silver Spring businesses that closed Monday in solidarity with the “Un Dia Sin Inmigrantes” or “One Day Without Immigrants” movement. Mobile IDs to be accepted for alcohol purchases

A pilot program to allow people to verify their age using a mobile ID when purchasing alcohol from Bethesda’s Westbard Oak Barrel & Vine starts Wednesday. If successful, Montgomery County’s Alcohol Beverage Services will expand it to all 27 county liquor stores. [Montgomery Community Media]
