A Massachusetts man who allegedly traveled to Washington, D.C., with plans to kill Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stopped at a Chevy Chase library before he entered the District, authorities said. Ryan Michael English, 24, was arrested at the U.S. Capitol Monday with a knife and two Molotov cocktails. [NBC4]

Two MoCo teachers receive Presidential Award for Excellence

Piney Branch Elementary School’s Krishni Patrick, a fifth grade teacher, and Sligo Middle School’s Joan Shane, a mathematics content specialist, received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching on Tuesday. Firefighters extinguish house fire in Laytonsville

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday night, 75 county firefighters responded to a house fire in the 5300 block of Griffith Road in Laytonsville. Crews encountered heavy fire conditions that caused up to $1 million in damage to the home, which was vacant at the time of the blaze. The cause of the fire was unknown as of Wednesday morning and no injuries were reported. [DC News Now]
