All lanes have reopened on northbound I-270 before Montrose Road after a multi-vehicle crash involving an overturned tractor trailer resulted in lane closures and delays Tuesday morning, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) officials and the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination (MATOC) Program.

At about 6 a.m., MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer posted on social media that a collision had occurred involving an overturned tractor trailer and a diesel fuel spill.

According to a statement from Maryland State Police, officers responded about 6 a.m. to a crash involving a vehicle and tractor trailer on I-270 before Montrose Road or Exit 4 in Montgomery County.

The driver of the tractor trailer was taken by ambulance to Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, the statement said. No other injuries were reported.

At about 10:30 a.m., MATOC shared on social media that all local lanes remained blocked and that traffic was being diverted to express lanes. Delays to northbound traffic were confined to the area of the crash, but an extended closure is expected, MATOC said.

In a final update at around 12 p.m., MATOC said that the incident cleared, and all lanes have reopened.

Maryland State Police said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
