MCPS staff raises safety concerns at alternative schools

Staff from two alternative schools housed in the Blair G. Ewing Center on Avery Road in Rockville raised concerns about the conditions of the buildings and violence between the two schools’ students. An MCPS spokesperson said the district is aware of the issues and is taking steps to address them. [WTOP

Former NFL coach visits Good Counsel High School in Olney 

Bill Belichick, former NFL head coach and current football head coach at the University of North Carolina, visited Good Counsel High School in Olney Thursday. The University of North Carolina is home to several Good Counsel High alumni. [Montgomery County Media

Kensington man allegedly fatally shot friend with AR-15 rifle

Benjamin Dresbach, 21, was ordered to remain in jail Tuesday after he was charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of his friend in Dresbach’s Kensington home. According to authorities, Dresbach used an AR-15 rifle in the shooting. [The Washington Post]
