On Tuesday morning, firefighters at the Burtonsville station honored their fallen colleague as the body of Christropher Higgins was transported from Baltimore to a funeral home in Pasadena, Maryland. Higgins, 46, was a master firefighter for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) who died in the line of duty Saturday evening. [WUSA9]

Potential $810 million deal in works for Rockville’s RegenxBio

Rockville’s RegenxBio has inked a deal with Japan’s Nippon Shinyaku that could potentially be worth $810 million. The deal aims to “commercialize [RegenxBio’s] one-time gene therapies for Hunter syndrome, and Hurler syndrome.” [Washington Business Journal]

Kopp celebrated with portrait in Annapolis

Nancy K. Kopp, who represented Montgomery County’s District 16 in the House of Delegates from January 1975 to February 2002, was honored with a portrait unveiling on Friday in Annapolis. Kopp served as state treasurer from February 2002 to December 2021, when she retired. [Maryland Matters]
