Del. David Moon (D-Dist. 20), who represents Silver Spring and serves as House Majority Leader in the Maryland General Assembly House of Delegates, told WAMU’s The Politics Hour that state legislators need to prepare to respond to potential impacts of President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming administration. Moon said the county needs to become “a lot more self-reliant in the coming years and do everything we can to broaden and expand our local tax base.” [WAMU]

Gaithersburg native’s book drive for kids with cancer sees success

Emily Bhatnagar of Gaithersburg started a book drive called For Love & Buttercup to collect books for children with cancer after her father was diagnosed with the disease. She’s donated more than 20,000 books since 2021. [NBC 4]
