Montgomery County detectives are looking for the family of a man who was struck by a car on New Year’s Eve and has been in the hospital in critical condition since. Police believe the victim, Juan Ixpata-Vasquez, lives in the Silver Spring or the Hyattsville area. [WJLA]
Man convicted for Lyons sisters murder begins serving prison time
Sheila and Katherine Lyon were last seen at Wheaton Plaza in 1975 and Lloyd Lee Welch, who was convicted of killing the sisters, started serving time for the killings on Tuesday. Welch was transferred to Virginia’s Department of Corrections from a Delaware prison to begin his 48-year prison sentence for killing the sisters. [WTOP]
Damascus museum showcases town’s 200-year history
Damascus’s 200-year history, which began as a dairy farm town, is being displayed by the Damascus Heritage Society Museum in a former Montgomery County portable school building. The museum opened in 2009 and exhibits are changed every few months. [Montgomery County Media]
