More snow possible Saturday, forecasters say

Multiple models are predicting that Montgomery County may see more snow this weekend. While it is still early, The Washington Post examined possible outcomes and as of Tuesday afternoon, estimated that “a light snow event of 1 to 3 inches is most probable” for Friday night to midday Saturday. Two die after Silver Spring apartment fire

Two men died after a fire in the Glenmont Forest Apartments in the 2300 block of Glenmont Circle, Silver Spring. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Crews (MCFRS) were dispatched just after midnight for the report of a building fire. Two men were in cardiac arrest when crews arrived, according to a spokesperson for MCFRS, and they were transported to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead. [Fox 5 DC]

MCFRS sees uptick in calls

MCFRS recently released data for 2024 and noted that crews responded to 5% more calls than they had in 2023. Data also showed that Gaithersburg-Washington Grove was the busiest station with 19,540 calls and the most costly fire was at the former JoAnn Leleck Elementary School building at Broad Acres in Silver Spring, with total damage estimated at $10.5 million.
