Montgomery County police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck and killed Thursday night by a Ride On bus in Germantown, according to authorities.
The fatality is under investigation as a suicide, police said in a statement Thursday night.
The collision resulted in road closures and traffic delays in the area, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer wrote on social media around 7 p.m.
According to Thursday night’s police statement, officers and MCFRS crews responded shortly after 6 p.m. to the report of a collision between a bus and a pedestrian on Germantown Road between Wisteria Drive and Middlebrook Road.
Police have determined a male, whose age was not provided, was struck by a Ride On Bus, the statement said. MCFRS crews evaluated a person “pinned under [a] bus” with traumatic life-threatening injuries, Piringer wrote on social media at about 6:30 p.m.
The male was pronounced dead at the scene, the statement said. The bus driver remained at the scene.
Since the death is under investigation as a suicide, no further information will be provided, police said.
