The Kentlands Tree and Menorah Lighting, scheduled for Wednesday night at the Kentlands Market Square in Gaithersburg, has been canceled due to weather, according to an announcement from the Kentlands Community Foundation.

The tree and menorah lighting was scheduled to be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and included a holiday-themed concert, a hot chocolate bar, ornament making and a visit from Santa on a Rockville Volunteer Fire Department firetruck, according to the community foundation’s website.

The community foundation announced the cancelation on social media Monday, extending its gratitude to vendors, neighbors and community partners. On social media, the group said it was “already looking forward to celebrating with you next year.”

Wednesday’s weather brought rain across Montgomery County with a low of about 30 degrees and a high of about 60 degrees.

Although the tree lighting was canceled, county residents have the opportunity to see Santa as he rides through the county Wednesday with police and through neighborhoods this month with local fire departments.
